Reference:

HISTORYHarrow's a pathologist who lives in Brisbane Australia and works at QIFM. He's a chronic work alcoholic which strains many of his relationships, especially with his daughter, Fern. Fern lives off the grid and has minimal contact with her parents, squatting from home to home with her boyfriend Callan. In order to reconnect with her he promises to quit his job and take her sailing on his boat to Bora Bora. She agrees, but an officer named Soroya Dass who is also his love interest shows him some bones in a river she found, thinking he'd find the case interesting. The bones belong to his ex's wife former husband, Robert Quinn, who he killed in self defense after confronting him having found out he was abusing Fern. Dass and Simon, Harrow's protege, both try to solve the case with Harrow secretly trying to cover his tracks via tampering with evidence and trying to get the case closed. After Robert's identity is discovered Harrow and his family end up under suspicion. Dass, when looking into Fern, sees a bone cutter she's trying to sell in a pawn shop that she knows is part of Harrow's collection, which she suspects will match the one used to cut off Robert's ring finger. She takes police chief Nichols and some officers to check Harrow's boat, but Simon (having suspected Harrow as well and learning why he did what he did) replaces the missing bone cutter in order to clear Harrow. Jack, Harrow's mentor, also writes a letter thanking him for a "visit" at the time of the murder. Dass feels understandably betrayed, as she knows she's right and was made a fool of, so she says goodbye to Harrow and later transfers out of Brisbane. Harrow is officially cleared. While on his deck enjoying a glass of wine, Harrow is shot by a sniper.

He survives, though the bullet damages his gall bladder. He's in the hospital for an undetermined amount of time before he leaves. Later at a bar he meets a woman named Grace and hits it off. They sleep together but later find out she was starting her first day at QIFM as a pathologist. She's also the niece of Lyle Fairley, a fellow pathologist. Nichols later tells Harrow that a man confessed to being the one to shoot Harrow as revenge for his 11 year prison sentence. A few days later he dies of a diabetic shock in jail. Harrow gets a call when he's on his boat that's scrambled and anonymous. The caller tells Harrow that he's happy he survived because now he can ruin his life and take away everything that he loves little by little. As this happens, police raid Fern and Callan's home and find fentanyl in her closet. She's charged with stealing the fentanyl from her new employer, Tim, who is a chemist. Harrow tells Nichols about the phone call. With Fern's charge she is ordered to stay away from Callan, so Harrow lets him stay on his boat. Harrow comes to suspect that a man named Francis Chester is behind his shooting and goes to tell his boss, Maxine, who informs him that Francis died in a prison fire so it can't be him, but he's not fully convinced. He finds out his old mentor, Laurie, did the autopsy for Francis and asks for the copy. He learns that Laurie identified the corpse of Francis through dental work. Later, Francis sets Harrow's beloved car on fire and it turns out he's working for the same company as Callan under a fake identity. Harrow spends a good chunk of time trying to prove that Francis is alive while the man himself thwarts him and makes him look like he's been taking drugs so no one believes him, gets him suspended, and basically makes all his claims look false. After Callan realizes who his new coworker is Francis chases him out of the restaurant where he gets hit by a moped and calls into a coma. At the hospital Francis, disguised as a nurse, uses Callan as a distraction be nearly killing him, and while Harrow is trying to revive him with a defibrillator, Francis kidnaps Fern. Taking a pill to counteract Francis's drug of choice, Harrow goes to meet him. They eventually manage to take him alive and the police show up to take him away, but Harrow, deciding that leaving Francis alive is too dangerous, sneakily injects him with his own drug so when he dies in the ambulance later it looks like a heart attack.

Personality
Harrow is a perpetual work alcoholic who can't quit even if he tries. And he has. It's not just about the fact that he cares deeply about his work, though. Pathology essentially saved his life. Or rather it was the tool used to do it. When he lost his father at a young age, a pathologist named Jack Klein took him under his wing after being the one to do his father's autopsy. Harrow had been spiraling and acting out, but it was Jack and pathology that set him back on the right path. As such he has trouble letting it go despite the strain his work puts on all of his relationships, even the work ones. But he's also a man who loves a challenge and trying to piece together the puzzle of someone's death. The more challenging the case the more interested he becomes. On top of everything, though, he's extremely empathetic to the victim's and their families. Once again citing how personal his work is to him, it makes sense. He goes as far as getting annoyed when his coworker refers to a victim by case number as opposed to their names. Pathology isn't just about figuring out how someone dies and calling it a day for him. He wants to find out why they died, something he learned from Jack, and given that his father took his own life when he was young, it's fitting that he'd resonate with the idea of asking "why?" Why were they out walking late at night? Why did they take this headache pill if they were going to kill themselves? He believes it's just as important to ask these kinds of questions, not just for solving the case, but also giving the families closure. To him, his work is about the living. He cares deeply about helping families get closure in the face of tragedy.

That being said, he's a selfish jackass a lot of the time. Going by his ex wife, Steph, he missed a lot of school events and recitals for his daughter because he got so wrapped up in his work that he forgot. It's clear through all his closets friends and family that Harrow can be selfish as hell. It's not something he ever intends, but it's a problem he's well aware of and admits openly that he doesn't know how to "fix himself". Simon, who has been working with Harrow for a few years now, comments on how in all that time Harrow not once accepted any of his invitations to go over and have dinner with Simon and his at the time boyfriend. Which leads to the fact that, despite Harrow telling Simon that the living are more important than the dead, he takes people for granted frequently. Once again using Simon as an example...after he died, Harrow found out all these things he didn't know about him. Not because Simon was keeping his life from him, as it's very obvious he wanted him in his life trying to invite him over to his apartment, etc, but because Harrow never asked. He hadn't known that Simon and David broke up, he didn't know Simon had a sister, and he didn't know that he suffered from epilepsy, which surprises everyone around him. He also very rarely pays Simon (and we can assume most coworkers) a compliment on his work to the point where Simon keeps a tally. We also "saw" this with Fern (or rather heard second hand from Steph). Clearly he wasn't around as much as he could be, and once Fern began to withdraw from her parents, it had been too late to try and fix anything at the time.

QUESTIONNAIRE

Is your character willing to have sex and able to give informed consent?
Yes

What is the wish your character made? Why did they make it?

Harrow's wish is to bring Simon, his protege and friend, back to life. Aside from the fact that Simon is practically family to the Harrows, having worked closely with him for nearly five years, he feels guilt for Simon's death. Those around him, also grieving, put a lot of the blame on Harrow. He was constantly reminded that Simon was trying so hard to be like Harrow that he neglected his own health to keep up both his studies and his work.

With the added blame Harrow already put on himself, since Simon died looking into Francis, he also learned that he didn't know Simon as well as he thought he did. He didn't realize he and his long term boyfriend had been broken up for months, he didn't know that he had epilepsy, he didn't even know he had a sister. He managed to miss so many things right under his nose because Harrow tends to get tunnel vision about his work and neglect his relationships with others, often taking them for granted. This is especially egregious in regards to Simon, who he often sees a lot more than his family seeing as how they work together, and Harrow's life is his work. Harrow gives Simon so few compliments that he keeps track of them when they do happen.

How will your character initially react to Decadia's setting?

With great indignation. Despite literally signing up for this, he isn't going to expect things to be as gratuitous as it turns out to be. Even when he cooperates he's going to make it perfectly clear that this is not his scene and he hates everything. He's also going to view this whole contract as predatory towards the desperate. Not to mention all of the unknown variables and the answers he's most certainly not going to get fast enough. This man loves a mystery, and having one he can't solve will drive him up the wall. That being said, he's going to cooperate because his wish is very important to him and he will do practically anything to make it come true, even if it's something that he shouldn't believe is possible because everything he knows about science and medicine is telling him he's probably just having a fever dream.

What are you most interested in doing with your character in Decadia?

I'm most interested in exploring relationships with him, which sounds simple but when it comes to Harrow he over complicates relationships by being terrible at managing them.

I want him to be involved in a variety different dynamics. He's a very empathetic person and I think with the whole mess of characters that there are sure to be in game, he'll find no shortage of people to listen to, talk to about their problems (while mostly ignoring his own), and just opening his worldview because in spite of him already being pretty open minded there's always room for improvement. That being said, I want to explore him getting close to people with wildly different worldviews to his own. Ones that he would even actively oppose. I want him to get into some toxic messes as well as CR that will genuinely be good for him.

Harrow (especially by season 2's end) never really has an arc that "fixes" his issues, for lack of a better word, and while he's not being taken from season 3 he does mention to someone that he doesn't think he'll ever get better. I'm not looking to "fix" him but I would love for his time in Decadia getting to know people from other literal universes to help him with his unresolved issues. I want to explore him learning that he can change and he's not broken, just traumatized and dealing with a whole lot all the time.

What aspect of sex appeals to your character the most?

The intimacy, mostly. Harrow likes the feeling of connecting with people. His empathetic nature means it's easy for him to do so even when he's not trying, though it doesn't always end well. Even when he's in a position where he's struggling with secrets and no one he can turn to he can't help but connect with others. Which, once again, doesn't tend to end well.

There's also something to be said about working with the dead every day and how the thrill of feeling "alive" when having sex is something he chases. In every sex scene you can see Harrow being gentle, holding faces, staring into his partner's eyes while telling them they're beautiful. It's almost like a worship for him.

What kinks does your character have, known or unknown to them? Why do they have those particular kinks?

Intelligence may as well be a kink for him. Each time he's met with a women who shows she's really smart and able to match him in his enthusiasm either in the morgue or on a crime scene, he finds himself drawn to them to the point where he can't help but look at them with awe and admiration, and sometimes calls them beautiful as if he only just realized it then.

It's vanilla as hell, but Harrow really enjoys kissing because it's one of the more intimate physical expressions. He could get lost in a kiss for hours and not complain once because he enjoys it so much. And while if asked he might not say it because it's not really something that registers in his head as "this is a kink for me", he also loves body worship. Mostly, he enjoys being the worshiper, and it ties in to his love of kissing. He will kiss his partner everywhere as a means of showing his appreciation, all the while whispering encouragement and sweet nothings in their ears, as his worship extends both to the physical aspect of sex as well as the verbal.

As far as undiscovered goes, a big one he doesn't realize he has is teasing. The physical kind, at least. He normally doesn't tease his partners but taking someone gradually to the edge and seeing them wanting would tie into his worship kink, which is likely when he'll realize that this is even a thing for him. Most of his kinks will probably be discovered through his desire to body worship, such as giving oral sex, playful nibbling, and generally taking his time with someone. Sex with Harrow tends to lean towards the more tantric side, focusing on the moment and not necessarily the end goal.
